Needham Women’s Club 5th Grade Essay Contest
The Needham Women’s Club is pleased to announce our annual essay contest for Needham 5th graders. This contest is open to all fifth graders who live or attend school in Needham, MA. We are partnering with the Needham Historical Society this year in celebration of their 100th anniversary to offer a topic pertaining to the history of Needham schools.
What is the topic?
The essay topic this year is: “Compare the life of a 10 year old in Needham in 1850 with your life in Needham now – school, food, chores, games, etc.”
1850 was chosen because that is the year of the Little Red Schoolhouse day. All current 5th graders, assuming they were in the district for 3rd grade, came through the Historical Society for Schoolhouse day.
